Guilin University of Technology is a university jointly built by the central government and the local government and mainly managed by Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The school originated from Guilin Geological School formed by the former State Ministry of Heavy Industry in Guangxi in 1956, and has gone through the development course of five changes of affiliation and ten changes of school name, among which, it was renamed as Guilin Institute of Metallurgy and Geology in 1978, Guilin Institute of Technology in 1993, and was officially renamed as Guilin University of Technology in 2009. Qu Jiuhui, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and member of the National Environmental Advisory Committee, is the honorary president of the university.
After more than 60 years of construction and development, the university has become a multidisciplinary institution of higher education with engineering as its main subject, and eight major disciplines of engineering, science, management, literature, economics, law, arts and agriculture, and the coordinated development of postgraduate education, undergraduate education, higher vocational education, international education and adult education. The university comprehensively implements the education policy of the Party, follows the school motto of “Virtue, Diligence and Learning, Practicality and Inspiration”, inherits and carries forward the Guigong Spirit of “Hard Work, Dedication and Dedication, Unity and Collaboration, Pioneering and Innovating”, and adheres to the principles of “People-oriented”, “Quality-oriented”, and “Talent-expanding”. The university now has four campuses in Guilin Pingfeng, Guilin Yanshan, Nanning Anji and Nanning Airport, with a total campus area of more than 3,300 mu.
